A while ago, there was a service person at my home. He asked me what DotComMommies was because he saw it on the back of my car.
I started explaining to him what DotComMommies was and it's purpose. I explained to him that my websites help people look for something to work from home. I also stated to him that I was working from home with a company to generate a more consistent income. He had a big smile on his face! He said he would love it if his wife would find something to work from home and stay at home with their children.
I told him this...
"If more people would realize the benefits of working from home then the more who would be doing it. Also, there would be more jobs available in the job classifieds and less people on welfare or living check to check."
He took a minute, thought about it, and responded...
"Your right!"
Quite honestly, if more people would open their eyes, their ears and their minds, I would bet at least one parent in most households would have the benefits of raising their own children while making money and saving on income taxes.
Every year at tax time, I save over $10,000 on my income taxes because I work from home.
Because I work from home with a home based opportunity, not only do I have consistent income, but income that repeats EVERY single month. Earning repeat monthly income for a one time effort is called residual income. So, if you think about it, your income should only be growing ever single month.
Let's talk about the tax benefits of a work from home opportunity... This is my own experience, and if you want to find out about the specific write offs you are entitled too, please consult with your local tax professional.
The things I have written off for the last 9 years have been the following:
1. Up to 75% of my internet service. All I do is add up all my internet service bills and deduct 75% of the total and report it as an expense on my long form for my federal taxes.
2. I have written off computers, monitors, printer, and other office equipment I use daily to work from home.
3. I write off paper, pens, notebooks, envelopes, stamps, my check books, printer ink, books, ebooks, software, and hardware, and any other office expenses.
4. I write off a portion of my utilities and mortgage.
5. I write off monthly fees, hosting fees, membership fees, advertising, domain names, etc.. I write off every single thing I purchase that is business related.
6. You can write off mileage.
7. I write off a portion of my medical expenses including pharmacy, medical and dental, as well as, my monthly premiums.
8. I write off trips, hotels, meals, convention tickets, etc..
There are probably other things I personally write off or have missed. You get the idea.
If you worked an outside job, there is no way you can write off all these expenses.
Do you see where there are tax savings just by having a home based business?
You will find that people who may or may not want to work aggressively with a home based business, may passively work one just for the tax benefits.
I don't know about you, but we pay enough taxes and having a home based business, Uncle Sam gives you tax breaks.
Next time you consult with a tax professional, ask them for the self employment packet, so you know exactly what benefits you get by working from home.
