Is Your Home Healthy? By: Stacy Perez
You may think your home is environmentally safe, but after reading and
researching, you may discover your home is environmentally unsafe.
We are creating an awareness by inspiring and educating families about the
dangers of toxins and chemicals in the home.
Do you use laundry care products, products to clean your home, shampoo,
toothpaste, deodorant, dish soap or any other types of products daily? Of
course you do, but are they environmentally safe? Meaning are the products
less toxic or environmentally safer? Did you know exposure to toxins and
chemicals in products you use daily may cause health problems, such as,
allergies, asthma, ADD, MS, Fibromyalgia, Eczema, and more! Scary, huh?
I bet either some one in your family or some one you personally know has one
of the health problems listed. Think about it.
Years ago, you may not have heard of many people having ADD, Fibromyalgia,
etc. Today, there are more people that have ADD, ADHD, allergies, asthma,
eczema, etc. then ever before. Personally, I know more people today that
have one of those health problems then years ago. It seems that there are
even more children today that suffer from one of those health problems then
before.
Did you ever think that being exposed to products with toxins and chemicals
maybe harming you?
Here is a perfect example:
It is time to clean the bathroom. Remember, how you feel before you start to
clean. Okay, 30 minutes have past, and you are finally done. How do you
feel? I bet you feel worse then you did before you started. It is because
you inhaled the fumes from the products you used to clean your bathroom. Did
you remember to wear your gloves and your gas mask? Did you know the toxins
and chemicals enter your body through your skin or by inhaling or injesting?
Read the back of the cleaning product. Is there any warning labels? Do not
inhale, drink or put the product on your skin. If you are exposed to the
chemicals wash the area exposed or call 911. The back of the product will
say something similar to that. Now, if there wasn't toxins and chemicals in
the product, then why do they basically tell you to wear a gas mask and
gloves while you clean?
Do you have a small child or know of one? Here is something quite
disturbing. If you or someone you know has a baby product, like shampoo, go
get it. Look at the ingredients on the back of the bottle. Do you see an
ingredient called Quaternium-15 listed? Do you know what that is? I bet you
don't want to know, but I am going to tell you. It is formaldehyde. Yes,
that is correct formaldehyde, the stuff that is used to preserve dead
bodies. When I heard that, I felt ill. It is sickening isn't it?
Stores wouldn't sell products that are not safe, right? Wrong, of course
they do. Stores sell cigarettes and alcohol, right? They are not save, but
people still buy them, right? Manufactures do not have to list exactly what
is in the products. If they did more people would understand that purchasing
environmentally safer alternatives would be in their best interest for their
health.
Do you ever sneeze, get a headache, or feel nauseus when you are down the
cleaning isle of the store? The chemicals in cleaning isle are over
powering. As soon as I approach the cleaning product isle, I start sneezing.
It is in my interest to avoid the cleaning isles!!
Toxins and chemicals in products may make your house smell like it is clean,
but it is destroying your body! I have heard this from several people, "I
like the smell of chemicals when I clean so I know my house is clean." That
is great they love their homes to smell clean, but is the smell worth your
health?
